Boston wedding photographers | 2013 Year in Review part I

Well it's almost the end of February so we thought it was about time we revisit some of our favorite images from all the great 2013 weddings. We say this every year but this is such a tough assignment to go through the thousands upon thousands of wedding photographs we create over the course of the year to edit down to such a small collection. We find we get so personally involved in each wedding that we become almost as attached to each image as our clients and that's what makes the editing process so tough. That's also why we have to split this into two parts, Part I being the first half of 2013. So if you just want the cliff notes version, below is a selection of our favorites. For the real deal, take a break from what you're doing and enjoy the slide-show we put together. Link below. Enjoy!

New Years Resolution For Creativity | Take 1 - Fashion

Every time the New Year whips past us, we think “where did the year go?” We always have so many unfinished plans, goals and ideas.  We are resolute to not let that happen this year.

Randall and I have set a goal to do 12 creative photography shoots this year. The inspiration behind each shoot, well that’s easy, we have so many ideas. The hard part is choosing 12.

Huge thanks to our wonderful team behind our first creative shoot for 2014. We would like to thank Alexandra Dale of Alexandra Makeup Artistry for crafting an amazing mood with the makeup. Brittany Eileen for helping bring our vision to life with the hair styling. Our wonderful model Courtney Phillipps, our videographer Sam Sacks (behind the scenes video to come), our partner in crime and all things fashion Abby Shepard.

Our technical goal for this shoot was to capture our model in a long exposure night shot, compositing several images. The theme behind the shoot was around my favorite time of day, twilight, that last hour of luscious light.  Our model is warm and brightly colored as if she were the last ray of sunlight as the night closes in around her.  Please enjoy!

Grace Ormonde wedding style New England and Lux Bond and Green

Pretty amazing to be looking through the latest Grace Ormonde Wedding Style New England to see one of our images as the full page ad for Lux Bond & Green. Turned out super well if we don't say so ourselves. It was the absolute last image we made at a Vermont wedding we photographed up at Riverside Farm maybe a year or so back.

Funny that we almost didn't get a chance to make this photograph. As wedding photographers we're always walking the fine line between editorial photographers, documenting the story of the day, with the flip side of the coin, using our skills with light to create or enhance the mood of an environment. The music had ended, guests leaving and the bride and groom were saying their final good-bye's to relatives before they made their way to the after party. We had seen the potential in this spot earlier in the evening but as the night's festivities cruised along we hadn't had an opportunity to steal the bride and groom even for a minute. And this was actually right near the dance floor so it worked out perfectly that only a few guest remain, out of focus in the background, as the bride and groom had an intimate little moment as their perfect wedding day came to a close. Couldn't have taken us more than a minute to set up and capture, but sometimes that's all you need. Definitely a memorable image. Thanks again Abby and Jason! And here's a link to check out more from their wedding:

The Past Present and Future of Wedding Shoes | Wedding Shoes Review

What’s the best way to find the perfect bridal shoe? Go shoe shopping! Ok, that was easy, but we all know it’s harder than that. I personally love shoes, (so by default Randall knows a lot about women’s shoes too). Not only my deep passion for shoes drives our wedding day photographs, we get to photograph over 30 pairs of our brides and bridesmaids shoes each year.  This post is dedicated to the wedding shoes of 2013.

Here are some of my favorite resources for finding your future bridal shoes online (some have brick and mortar locations as well), and all in all I hope this helps all brides and bridesmaids alike.

In order of my favorites:
11.     Christian Louboutin
22.     Jimmy Choo
33.     Barneys
44.     Nordstrom
55.     BHLDN
66.     Badgley Mischka
77.     Kate Spade
88.     Anthropology
99.     David’s Bridal
110.  Zappos

Here are some of our favorite bridal shoe images from 2013 (now there were some brides who had the same heels so you will notice some repeats in different locations!) I hope this post inspires all of our future brides out there to go for the gold and get the shoe that is perfect for you.
