Original Wedding Expo | Boston Wedding Photography

Original Wedding Expo | Boston Wedding Photography

A few weeks back we strutted our stuff at the Marlborough bridal show put on by The Original Wedding Expo. This was our first bridal show on the East coast so we weren't sure what to expect. We put together our sample albums, some big prints, a few bigger prints and hoped for the best.  It turned out to be a great afternoon meeting other vendors, connecting with new venues, re-connecting with some of our favorites and talking with a bunch of brides.

Riverside Farm Wedding | Boston Wedding Photographers

Riverside Farm Wedding, Vermont | Boston Wedding Photographers

This week's mild weather is a real tease.  It makes me day dream back to brighter, sunnier and warmer days.  So let's go with that and talk about a wedding venue with all the rustic charm you could want that still maintains a real elegance.  Riverside Farm in Pittsfield Vermont is just that place.  This weekend was so wonderful I had to split this post into a few parts.  I've known Elana and her family for a long time and it was a real pleasure to document her wedding day. Maybe it was the air up there at Riverside Farm or the gorgeous light, or everyone's easy nature, but we couldn't make a bad image that weekend.  We highly recommend Riverside for the location and the staff, service and professionalism was top notch as well.  So here's some images from the pre-wedding day rehearsal and BBQ (click on any of the images to see them larger):

Architecture Photography | A little structure

I know you'll all be shocked to find out we do in fact point our cameras in directions that don't face beautiful people celebrating.  What??  It's true.  Theresa and I love shooting wedding and that's why we based our business around it, specializing in it.  But really we were trained as artists, trained to see the light.  A truly gifted photographer, John Sexton once wrote, "It is light that reveals, light that obscures, light that communicates. So it is light I 'listen' to."  He's, in my opinion, one of the greatest living American landscape and fine art photographers - see his work here (I've taken a few of his workshops and all I can say is amazing). So my point is that by constantly learning to see the light it helps us make a good image anywhere.  Here's a few architectural images I've made over the last couple of years - and a link to see more.

Oh yeah and Happy Valentine's day for all you couples out there.

Bridal Shoes | A Dirty Little Pair

Bridal Shoes | A Dirty Little Pair

White or something in the vicinity is the color of 99% of the wedding dresses that Randall and I photograph. I always love it when we get a vivid shoe peeking out from under the dress. I feel like it might be happening more often, but I have been known to be terribly optimistic.  One of our brides this past fall wore the most wonderful lime green platform pumps.  The wedding was at Zukas Hilltop Barn, if you have not seen Zukas yet be sure to go, it's beautiful.  Here's a selection of some of my favorite colorful shoes from our past weddings.  Love it!

If you frequent this blog must you have an idea of our style of photography. If we see nice light - we put you in it. That nice light could be anywhere, an abandoned military base, a winery, a pile of luscious leaves. It you're up for some fun, so are we, that's just how we roll - sometimes the couple might roll in the leaves too...
