The Cliff Mautner Lighting and Skillset Bootcamp | a few favorites

Last week I had the wonderful experience of heading down to NJ to attend a workshop with a photographer whose work I have respected for years. Cliff Mautner's photography has really been an inspiration for me from the beginning of my wedding photography career. When I started out I would study his images and try and watch any education videos online I could find. So when his bootcamp fit into my schedule this year I figured why not jump at the opportunity. Continuing to learn and master my craft is really important to me and I have a bunch of workshops lined up for the future but I knew Cliff's bootcamp would be a good place to start. And I wasn't disappointed. I had the chance to meet not only him but also an amazing group of photographers from all over. Everyone was so open and willing to share their experiences and how they came to this point in their lives. A truly refreshing experience. I definitely walked away with some significant points that I'll be implementing in my business and how I approach weddings. A huge thank you to Cliff and the other workshop attendees.

He's a few images I made while at the workshop. Enjoy!

Quail Lodge wedding, Carmel wedding photographer | the wedding of Kristen and Steve

The entire Monterey Peninsula of California has a special place in my heart and it always will. It's the type of place you dream about after you leave. Steinbeck wrote, "Cannery Row in Monterey in California is a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream" (from his novel Cannery Row). That pretty much sums it up.

So I was super excited and honored when Kristen and Steve inquired about having me photograph their wedding at the beautiful Quail Lodge in Carmel. And I already knew how much fun the wedding would be as I photographed Kristen's brother's wedding a few years back at Lake Tahoe. The family is a blast, enough said. And I loved how Kristen and Steve included great personal touches into the wedding day, including a cool knot tying during the ceremony (pun completely intended all around). We couldn't have asked for a better day, with perfect weather and that gorgeous California sunshine :) Enjoy a few of my favorites:

Something about crafting an image like this and fitting a loving couple into a beautiful landscape, simply gets right to my heart.
