I thank John Sexton for once writing, "It is light that reveals, light that obscures, light that communicates. So it is light I 'listen' to." As photographers we are fascinated by the way light shapes our world, the way it reflects off a body of water or the way it defines a bride's veil. Especially as wedding photographers we have to be able to recognize, and more often than not create, a beautiful lighting situation quickly, then react to capture the image. But it's that ability to see the light that can turn a photograph that has potential into an image that really sings. Here are a couple of images looking towards Lake Tahoe that certainly exhibit those fleeting qualities:
A little bit of sunshine, a couple snow covered mountain peaks, 2,500 miles traveled and 1 fabulous winter wedding in South Lake Tahoe. Despite the snow storm on the day of the wedding, both Lori and Nick could not be deterred from braving the elements and having a hell of a good time. We can't thank everyone enough for having us there and putting up with us while we got a ton of amazing shots - no matter how cold it was outside! Congrats again Lori + Nick - we wish you guys the best in everything. Now check out our favorites:
And we're off today for our 1st of back to back, Feb. and March, Lake Tahoe Destination Weddings. Can't wait to get there and see that beautiful light and the gorgeous landscape. Here's a shot I made a couple years ago there in the summer and I just loved the way the light seemed to be dancing on top of the water.
We'll post some from the wedding this Saturday as soon as we can.
