Creativity Take II | Food photography

For our ongoing series on creativity we wanted to play around with photographing food and some general still life shots of the ingredients. This all stems from a love for pie, apple pie specifically. Our vision was a little traditional in the feel of all the images, reminiscent of famous still life paintings and more moody lighting. So interesting how challenging the preparation, set up and crafting of the light can be. Especially since we were playing multiple roles, with Theresa making all the pies herself (and of course we did have to do some taste testing along the way and they were amazing).

Fun Friday | It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere

To expand your skills it's always a good challenge to give yourself personal assignments. And ever since Theresa's dad got us into home brewing I thought it would be fun to photograph some beverages, well beer anyway. I was tempted to use our home brew, we made an Irish red ale which turned out pretty kick-ass for our first attempt, but I decided against it because I knew I would be wasting beer with a few tricks to make the images look their best. And I give a serious nod to the photographers who photograph beverages all the time, it's not easy!  So on this Fun Friday installment, enjoy and get thirsty!
