Boston Corporate Event Photography | National Brain Tumor Society's Grey Gala

It's always a pleasure to photograph the National Brain Tumor Society's Grey Gala each year. Corporate and event photography isn't something you see me post a lot, but I do shoot quite a bit of it each and every year. This event was at Boston's Seaport Hotel and even though the evening was very cold, they still had a great attendance in order to raise awareness, and recognize a few influential people in the field of brain tumor research. Simon Pearce and Erin Gates Design, Event on Newbury Street | Boston Event Photography

I've been doing event photography almost as long as I've been photographing weddings so it was great to get a call from the NY ad agency that works with Simon Pearce. They were planning an event in their Newbury Street location and working with the uber talented Erin Gates Design of the Elements of Style book and amazing blog. If you're interested in design or fashion I would recommend you start following her. So Simon Pearce asked Erin to design a tablescape, inspired by nature, Fall and of course a lot of the gorgeous glassware, tableware and home decor that they custom make. The event was to show off the beautiful design Erin put together and to have a chance to meet her in person, pick her brain on why she chose what she did and any other fun tips for decorating your home this Fall. Fun Friday | Charity Fashion Event | Finding Inspiration, Isabel Toledo

Of course I cruise everywhere with a camera over my shoulder and as to be less assuming I wore all black (with blue Cole Haan loafers of course) and my 50mm lens. The evening started off in a private residence, too large to be called a house, in Chestnut Hill just outside of Boston.

A friend of mine who works at a well know magazine got us press passes to an exclusive event for a charity event, Stitch by Stitch benefiting new Americans by educating them in hopes to get then placed in jobs in the textile industry.  The guests of honor were Isabel and Ruben Toledo. I was familiar with Isabel Toledo’s designs for the first lady, Michelle Obama. Ruben’s artwork also rang a bell, he does all of the Nordstrom illustrations (and much more).

With no preconceived notion about the events for the evening, I decided to stand back and absorb the party through my lens. The Toledo’s are such a pleasant, down to earth couple and we didn't even notice they had arrived until reviewing a photo on my LCD. And there she was, Isabel had snuck in.

That night I was, and still am to this day, inspired by the Toledo’s relationship. They are each other’s muse. This pulls a heart-string when I think about my relationship with Randall, we too work together creatively and find inspiration in one another. Throughout the evening I heard more examples of how the Toledo’s inspire one another. I hope inspiration finds you through your loved ones.

Boston Brain Tumor Ride 2013, National Brain Tumor Society | Boston Event Photographers

This is one of our favorite events to photograph in the Boston area every year.  The Boston Brain Tumor Ride.  Pretty sure this year is the 19th year in a row, which is pretty impressive, not to mention all the money the riders, volunteers, families and friends have raised over those 19 years.  But we think even more impressive are the people that come out every year, devoted to raising awareness and actually trying to do something about such a widespread and complex disease.  Most of you know might know that both of my parents (Randall talking here) had brain tumor's so it's especially a topic that is close to me.  It's really inspiring to see everyone out there, supporting each other, cheering each other on. In the immediate, it's about a fun day and community and awareness.  Anyone affected by brain tumors knows in the long term it's about keeping the hope alive.
