Cape Cod Night Photography | Fun Friday
After last weekend's wedding down in Mashpee at Willowbend Country Club it was still hot outside. I think we left the venue around 11pm-ish and Theresa was dying for a quick dip in the ocean. So we headed back to the beach near the venue where we photographed the bridal party and families earlier in the day. Wanted to share this photo I made while Theresa was cooling off in the ocean. It was dark, I mean close to pitch black but I saw some lights in the distance and thought it would make for a pretty cool night shot. Grabbed the tripod, framed up an image from what I could make out and I think it was a 30 second exposure at f/8 around 1600 iso. Pretty amazing for how dark my eyes were translating the scene. Always amazes me the drastic disconnect between how are eyes see and how the camera sees, I guess that's one of the many reason's that makes photography an art. Alright, that's it for this Fun...well Saturday I guess. We have a double header this weekend. Today The Villa in East Bridgewater and tomorrow at Ipswich Country Club.
Have a great weekend!

Playa del Carmen Mexico destination wedding, Gran Porto Real Resort | Boston and destination wedding photographers | Sheila and Dan
Playa del Carmen Mexico destination wedding, Gran Porto Real Resort | Boston and destination wedding photographers | Sheila and Dan
Part I.
When a couple asks you to document their wedding day it's really a special thing. They are essentially entrusting you with photographing and capturing what will one day, down the road, be their memories of the wedding day. So it's kinda a big deal. Whether it's a Boston wedding, a wedding somewhere here in New England, or a California wedding, we know the stakes are high. Add to that the experience of traveling to a foreign country, to Playa del Carmen in Mexico, and the challenges of working in another country and you have the wedding of Sheila and Dan.
First off, two amazing people. They are the type of couple people just want to hang out with because you know you'll be smiling and having a great time. They chose the beach resort of Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen as the backdrop for their wedding celebration. And yes, it was amazing (probably going to use that word a lot so be prepared). Theresa had been to Mexico a few times and this was my first trip, so we had slightly difference expectations going in. But all that aside we really wanted to not only capture the mood, feeling and emotions of the wedding weekend celebration but also to capture a sense of the place. The architecture, variety of colors, abstract details, the subtle variations in the ocean, really all of it. A few of those photographs are here. Pretty sure we did the weekend justice. So to Part I - enjoy.

Brookside Club wedding | Cape Cod wedding | Sarah and Dale
Brookside Club wedding, Bourne MA | Cape Cod wedding | Sarah and Dale
We were super excited to get to photograph Sarah and Dale's wedding down in Bourne on Cape Cod. It was one of those crazy July weather days, scorching one minute, raining the next. But no worries, they had luck on their side as the rain held out for the beach ceremony and created some of the most stunning clouds. Sometimes all the elements come together and we're able to react quick enough to make a truly memorable image. The first image below we were actually headed back into the reception when the sun peaked out for maybe a minute. We quickly moved Sarah and Dale into a good spot, positioned a light behind them, balanced our settings and made a few images. A minute later the clouds moved back in and the scene was gone. Love that one! Take a look at some of our favorites from the day:
