Boston Wedding Photographers | The Power of a Goal
So I made the mistake of telling Theresa that our hometown, Ashland, was having their first 5k and half-marathon this year. This was months ago and I was simply giving out information but she thought I was suggesting we run it and responded with an enthusiastic, "yeah let's do that!" And with that we started to get back in running shape. We ran our first half-marathon together back in 2009 I believe, the San Diego half. A move cross-country and getting our business cranking on the East coast, well the long distance running had fallen to the wayside. That's were the motivation and power of having a goal kicked in and having a little friendly competition of who was running the farthest. We use this Runkeeper app, http://runkeeper.com/, and that way we can keep track of our own time, pace, route, etc. but also get updates on what each other did. Pretty cool.
But back to the Ashland Half-marathon. So if you didn't know the Boston Marathon originally started in Ashland, from 1897 to 1924, but was moved to Hopkinton when the distance was changed to be the same as the Olympic standard (there's your little bit of history today). And what was also pretty cool is that Bill Rodgers, Boston running legend, was at the half-marathon that morning and ran it too. I was able to keep up with him for the first 3 miles and then well let's just say he lost me. Here's a quick shot Theresa grabbed on her iphone seconds before the race started.
